Automation Dynamics is a small mechanical design and specialty machine manufacturing firm that has been in business for over thirty five years under the same ownership and management. Our customers come to us with a manufacturing application and ask us to develop the equipment to satisfy their needs. We have a significant amount of experience in the advanced composites industry, designing and building filament winding systems and unidirectional tape prepreg lines only because that was the first area of industry that approached us when the business was started. We have had additional experience with programmable plating lines and parts handling systems for a wide range of products.
When a potential client approaches us for a solution to their problem we ask them what they have done in their development or prototype efforts in order to find out what it is that they really need in the way of a manufacturing system. In order to take a laboratory development into production it is important to know just what has been done and how, to find the means of creating a cost effective manufacturing method for the product.
Once we have discussed the problem sufficiently we either tell the potential client up front that the problem is not in our area of expertise or we continue on by supplying them with a detailed proposal and fixed price quotation. As the proposal develops we are also creating a design concept that allows us, if given an order, to immediately start creating the detailed design drawings.
Nearly all of the fabrication and all of the assembly of the end product is accomplished in our shop where we can be assured of quick response to any needed design changes. The few outside services that we need are in the area of plating and painting. We do our own control panels and complete the assembly and trial runs of the equipment in our shop. Documentation is complete and maintained in CAD files so that any spare parts needs may be met even if the machine system is many years old. |
