TC-120

This is a fiber tension controlling creel intended for delivering fiber, under very low tension to a unidirectional prepreg or pultrusion machine.  This example has 120 spindles that accept a 3 inch core: other spindle counts are available as well. The spindles are ball bearing mounted and equipped with a simple spring set brake that is adjustable to prevent fiber overrun while allowing free delivery of the fiber.  Fiber cores are pushed on and pulled off the spindles without the need of tools.

This twenty four spindle creel is designed for the high speeds and rapid speed changes of filament winding.  A mechanical servo system controls the spring set brake, maintaining relatively constant tension throughout the speed range.  The system operates at speeds from 0 to 500 feet per minute with tension adjustable from 0.5 to 4.0 pounds or 2.0 to 8.0 pounds.  This unit can be supplied with various numbers of spindles.
